State-of-the-Art Technology is used to easily identify the earliest signs of retinal disease.
Houston, TX (April 26, 2016): Good news for retina and glaucoma patients in the Houston area: Eye Excellence, led by board-certified ophthalmologist, Mary T. Green, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., has become the first practice in the country to offer AngioPlex™ Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an Angiography imaging technology. OCT Angiography is an advanced diagnostic method used to detect the earliest signs of retinal disease, such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other vascular abnormalities at a depth and clarity never available before.
OCT Angiography (OCT-A) is used to scan the retina, producing a high-resolution view of its separate layers and blood flow in only a few seconds. It delivers high resolution, depth-resolved visualization of the separate layer of the retinal and vasculature, without the need for injected dye.
Dr. Green is confident that OCT-A is going to allow ophthalmologists to see things as never before, enabling earlier detection and management of vascular eye disease.
“Previous methods did not allow ophthalmologists to see individual capillaries.”
