Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) in Houston, TX

Droopy eyelids can give you an old and tired appearance and even result in vision problems. Eye Excellence performs eyelid surgery for people in Houston, Missouri City and the surrounding areas of Texas who suffer from excess eyelid skin and tissue.

What is Eyelid Surgery?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic procedure that is performed on the eyelids to remove excess skin on either the upper or lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can be performed for strictly cosmetic purposes or to improve vision by tightening loose and sagging skin that may be hanging over the eyes.

To be a good candidate for eyelid surgery, you should be in good general health and not suffer from any circulatory or ophthalmologic conditions, such as glaucoma or dry eye.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery at Eye Excellence:

  • Improves vision by eliminating sagging skin over the eye.
  • Smoothes fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
  • Rejuvenates facial appearance.
  • Reduces signs of aging, including drooping, puffy and sagging eyelids.

When Should I Have Eyelid Surgery?

There is no perfect age for undergoing eyelid surgery. If you are self-conscious about your appearance due to bags, wrinkles and excess skin around your eyelids, you should schedule a consultation at Eye Excellence to learn more about blepharoplasty. Or if you suffer from vision impairment as a result of sagging eyelids, you should consider eyelid surgery.

What Should I Expect From Eyelid Surgery?

During eyelid surgery, a small, discreet incision is made in the crease of your upper eyelid and in the inside conjunctiva lower lids. Excess fat is removed by working through the incisions. Sagging skin and muscle are trimmed and the incisions are sutured shut.

Following surgery your vision may appear blurry, this is normal and no reason for alarm. You will use ice packs intensively for the first 2 days, and be given eye drops to help reduce the swelling, which will subside over time. Your eyelids may feel tight and sensitive for the first few weeks after surgery and you will be advised to keep your head elevated.

Eyeglasses can be worn immediately after surgery, however, contact lenses should be avoided for one to two weeks following surgery.

How Long Do the Results of Eyelid Surgery Last?

With proper skin care and nutritional habits, eyelid surgery results can be permanent. You should always wear sunscreen to prevent sun damage.
