the implantable collamer lens (ICL) or sometimes known as the implantable contact lens (Visian ICL by STAAR®Surgical Company) offers another vision correction solution.
The ICL is inserted into the eye during a short surgical procedure similar to the implantation performed during cataract surgery. The main difference is that the ICL eye surgery does not require the removal of the eye's crystalline lens. Unlike LASIK or PRK, the ICL implantation does not permanently change the shape of the eye and is reversible. The ICL potentially offers not only excellent visual acuity, but also excellent quality of vision or "high definition" vision.
