“In 2009, I had surgery to remove cataracts, and had implants put in to replace the damaged lens. I had multifocal intraocular lens implants. It eliminated my dependence on regular and reading glasses, it is great! I can read the small print on items in the grocery store and menus without readers. My two sisters (one a long-time patients of Dr. Green) and one son were responsible for transporting me to the exams and surgeries and paying for the Crystalens. When Dr. Green saw me the first time, I told her that two different doctors in two states had advised that I was going blind and nothing could be done about it. She examined my eyes and said, “How do you see – I cannot see into your eyes. You also have “cracks” over both.” I said “maybe I’m looking through the cracks.” She said “you have cataracts.” I said “yeah, I have cataracts!” Everyone in the room laughed at my joy – they had never heard of anyone glad to have cataracts. I had hoped to see – but I did not know that I would have perfect vision! I am 82 years old!”

“My results were excellent from the moment I opened my eyes. I could not believe how bright and vivid everything was, especially colors. Having been in the fashion industry, being able to see the true colors is very important to me. No longer do I wear one black sock and one navy sock. My distance vision and mid-range vision was excellent from the start. I was told that with the Crystalens that I might have to wear readers for a while until my eyes strengthen, as I might not be able to read small print. What a delight to find out that I did not need the readers and I could read the newspaper with no problem from the start. My first surgery was on July 28th and the second August 11th. On my last post-op check-up, my vision was 20/20 and improving. My eyes are still making adjustments. However, I am very encouraged that it won’t be long before everything locks in.
